The News Shopper sponsored Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship returns to Swanley’s Canada Heights circuit on May 3.

After two rounds in 2015, the action has not disappointed with Shaun Simpson taking the championship lead in the 450cc class with five straight wins.

However, the Scottish rider has had to battle hard with Kristian Whatley and Estonia’s Tanel Leok all the way.

In the 250cc class Max Anstie has been very fast heading the championship from Adam Sterry and French flyer Steven Lenoir.

Also featured on May 3 are the up and coming teenagers who compete in the youth championships, including local 15-year-old hopeful Albie Wilkie.

As they go into round three at the popular Sidcup MCC track, all the riders will have to re-learn the circuit as it has been total changed for 2015 and will be run in the opposite direction with plenty of new twists, turns and jumps.

This should lend itself to some very exciting bar-bashing action.

Spectators can start the day with the free paddock walkabout where you can meet the riders and get autographs, watch mechanics preparing for the racing, see the bikes checked over in the official testing areas, pick up posters and stickers and soak up the electric atmosphere.

There is a shopping village where you can pick up all things Motocross related, as well as several food stands, a beer tent and children’s entertainment.

The colour, noise and tension of 40 bikes on the start line combined with the crazy first corner charge must be seen to be believed.

Canada Heights’ chestnut fenced circuit lets you get so close to the action you can feel it through your boots, unlike many motor sports these days where cars and bikes are very distant.

Practicing commences at 9am, with the first of nine races starting at 10.55am.

Greenlight TV will televise all the action again this year and will be broadcast on Sky Sports at a later date.

Canada Heights can be reached by following the AA signposts at Junction 3 of the M25 at the A20 interchange.

The postcode is BR8 8DX for Sat Nav users with free onsite parking available which will be easily accessible whatever the weather.

Admission is £45 for a family ticket (two adults, two children), £20 adults, £15 concessions and £5 for children.
