Orpington boxer Lloyd Miller claims winning the Queensbury British middleweight crown would be the greatest achievement of his boxing career.

The 27-year-old will challenge undisputed pound for pound champion Gareth Gardner on May 9 for the coveted title at Epsom racecourse in the main event of the league’s blockbuster evening of championship boxing.

Miller was last in action at the beginning of March when he produced a career best performance to rip the Queensbury national super middleweight title away from champion Terry Russell at Alexandra Palace.

But he Orpington stylist knows he’s facing the very finest at Epsom as he drops down a division in his quest to be crowned British champion.

Miller said: “I know I’m fighting the best of the best in Gareth Gardner, but I’m confident I’ve got enough to beat him and take his title.

“I’ve watched Gareth in the league many times and he’s a special fighter who can box and fight.

“He’s got an incredible work rate, which is why he’s such a great fighter.”

Croydon’s Gardner has yet to taste defeat in the competition since joining the televised boxing show three years ago off the back of a 50-fight amateur career which saw him represent England on many occasions.

And although Miller lacks the experience the champion possesses, the Orpington challenger is more than confident he can be the first man to beat the champion and lift the competition’s ultimate prize.

Miller said: “I’m coming into this fight off the back of a great win against Russell and I’ve already got a head start as I’ve still retained my fitness from that fight.

“I’ve already started sparring for this one and I’m looking at really focussing on that in the build up to the fight.

“Beating Gardner and getting my hands on that belt would mean absolutely everything to me, so get ready for one of the greatest fights the show has ever seen.”

Miller’s title challenge will headline the Queensbury Boxing League’s bumper line up of championship boxing taking place in the Oaks arena at the Epsom racecourse on May 9.
