A Lewisham boxer is planning to pay the bills with his fists.
Junior Saeed, 26, says the only job he’s ever known is boxing - and he’s back at work on his manager’s show at the Camden Centre on March 7.
Saeed is hoping to win super-bantamweight titles this year, but whatever he achieves in the ring, he’s going to enjoy himself.
The Lewisham ace said: “I love fighting. I’m a fighter, that’s what I do.
“I don’t do anything else with my life, I just train, then come home and chill.
“Without boxing, what else would I do?
“I haven’t got a trade and my CV doesn’t look that good. I’ve never had a job.
“Boxing is the only option for me.
“It’s all I’ve ever done. I haven’t got any choice.”
Saeed was previously a top amateur and in the professional ring has won all three fights.
He suffered a broken hand in sparring that ruled him out of a scheduled fight last December, but that’s healed and now he is ready to show off the unorthodox skills he's been developing since he was a boy.
And the Lewisham man was also keen to praise those who have backed his boxing dream.
He said: “I’m grateful my manager Mickey Helliet has shown faith in me and that the British Boxing Board of Control have given me a chance to do what I’m good at.
“I’m so happy now and so focused. I’m going to go out there and smash whoever is put in front of me.
“I’m not the strongest geezer, but I’m a handful for everyone I spar with, even the much heavier fighters.
“I don’t do everything by the textbook - but it works.”
