Westcombe Park emerged second best from Saturday’s encounter at Barnes.

The conditions and elements conspired to keep this a low-scoring game as both sides struggled to control the ball or string together significant passages of play.

It was very muddy underfoot, it rained and the wind never really eased.

Play was stuck between the respective 22 in the main.

Combe went in 3-0 up at half-time thanks to an Iain Gordon penalty, although hosts Barnes had had more of the possession and some dominance up front.

Their forwards at last got the ball over the line halfway through the second period, Richard Dumbleton credited with the score and Will Alkin adding the conversion.
