Combe were caught napping by visitors Chichester, conceding two tries by Edward Durkin and Rhys Gillings, with one conversion and three penalties from the boot of Alex Marsh.
Neither side really got going, as the game became a contest between the two defences, with any attack quickly snuffed out.
Combe scored at the end of the first half when Ben Hough went over and Kieran Leeper scored with the very last play of the game to add some respectability to the final scoreline. Iain Gordon had one conversion, Joe Simpson one penalty.
Combe probably enjoyed more possession but were unable to unlock the visitors’ determined and organised defence.
Chichester had few chances themselves but took them when on offer, and kept the scoreboard ticking over, enough to secure the win.
