Rileys Sharpshooters must be suffering the post Christmas blues, as in the first South London & Kent Pool Alliance Division Two game after the break they lost to Glenmore Arms II.

It was a bad day at the office for the division leaders, as no one played well in the 8-7 defeat but Glenmore's Jason Brunton was excellent in getting his hat trick.

This result shows that Sharpshooters can be caught and Plumstead Radical Club Rebels reduced their lead to just nine points after their victory against Lord Herbert.

The 11-4 score was a repeat of the score earlier in the season, with the Rebels winning the first and third sets 4-1 and the second set 3-2.

Despite the enormity of the victory only two players were unbeaten, Leighton Aston and Paul Rowlinson, both winning all three of their frames.

Bellegrove A have joined Glenmore on equal points in third after beating White Hart by 9 frames to 6.

The victors took the first set, 3-2 but White Hart levelled, winning the second set by the same score.

However Bellegrove got into gear in the final set, winning it 4-1, with Stephen Craig and Keith Smith taking a frame in each set.

The only game played in the SLKPA first division was between Bellegrove Social Club and Glenmore Arms A.

With Glenmore looking to extend their lead at the top, it was Bellegrove who won the first set, 4-1 with Alan Rothwell the only one to win for Glenmore.

But the division leaders turned on the style in the second set, with a 5-0 whitewash and they should have repeated that in the final set but Rothwell went from being the only one to win to the only one to lose.

He was in control of the final frame only to pot both the black and cue ball in the same visit to give his opponent the frame and make the overall score 10-5 in Glenmore's favour.

In the third set Dean Geary-Parr performed a 7-baller as part of his two out of three wins and Greg Phillimore was unbeaten, winning two frames.

Paul Thomas and Martin Hession had their own personal battle, playing each other in every set, with Thomas winning 2-1.

In the SLKPA Premier Division Rileys Hotshots were looking to uphold their unbeaten record against Bellegrove and it looked like they would, taking a 2-0 lead but Bellegrove battled back and won the set 3-2.

The second set followed the same pattern as the first, with Hotshots taking the first two frames but
Bellegrove won the set 3-2 to take a 6-4 lead into the final set.

The danger of losing their unbeaten record must have spurred the Hotshots on as they took the final set 4-1 to win the match 8-7, with Richard Chapman sealing the victory with his third frame win.

Tony Wilson also scored three out of three for Hotshots, as did Clive Black for Bellegrove.

After losing two in a row, O'Connors got back to winning ways in style, with a 12-3 victory over Eltham Terrace Club A.

James Sheed helped them to cut the difference at the top to eight points, with a break and dish in the first set.

Radical Rebels took advantage of Eltham Terrace's misfortune, going eight points ahead of them by beating their sister team, Eltham Terrace Rack Pack, 10-5.

They didn't have it all their own way though, as after winning the first set 4-1, Rack Pack won the second 3-2 but Rebels matched their first set score to win the game.

Rebels win was inspired by Stacy Redman's three out of three and Barry Barham's tenth frame win in a row.

It was a slow, hard fought match at North Heath Social Club, where Pickwick were the visitors.

Each set was won by the odd frame, 3-2 with Pickwick winning the match overall by 8 frames to 7.

North Heath's Captain, Dave Selby cleared with two visits after a foul break and there was some good finishes from Pickwick's George Hammond in his two out of two.

Pickwick's other team, Pickwick Academicals are still searching their first Premier Division victory, after losing 10-5 this week to Foots Cray Social Club Rugrats.

Academicals Billy Levingbird made an excellent clearance in his second frame and Graham Levingbird played incredibly well for his two out of three, however Rugrats Steve Gibson was unbeaten with two frame wins and Alan Enever and Ian Cruwys went one better with three out of three.
