League action took a break in the South London & Kent Pool Alliance this week as it was the first round of the Founders Cup and the Premier Division leaders, Rileys Hotshots suffered their first defeat of the season to crash out of the competition at the first hurdle.

Hotshots took a 4-1 lead over Bellegrove, who were looking to gain revenge after their earlier league defeat and they took great strides towards that by winning the next six frames in a row.

The match was tied after Hotshots won the next three frames to send the game into a final frame decider, where Clive Black pulled off a great clearance to win it for Bellegrove, 8-7.

Craig Mallinder was the inspiration behind the victory, winning all three of his frames.

Also going to a deciding frame was the match between Eltham Terrace Rack Pack from the Premier Division and Division Two's Plumstead Radical Club Rebels.

Rebels held their own in this tight match, with Paul Rowlinson and Paul Doherty both winning two of their three frames but Simon Evans made a great clearance in the decider to win the match for Rack Pack by 8 frames to 7.

Evans won both his frames but Tony Frost went one better with three out of three.

Another Eltham Terrace team would definitely make the next round as Rovers met Nuthouse.

This match is usually pretty close but Nuthouse weren't at the races as Rovers won 8-3.

Rovers took the first set 4-1 and Nuthouse found it hard to fight back from this with Rovers winning the second set 3-2.

Paul Dawson won the first frame of the final set, his third victory of the night, to win the match for Rovers.

Darren Porter and Ryan Francis were also unbeaten for Rovers with two out of two, as was Craig Jones for Nuthouse.

Eltham Terrace Club A also made it through to round two after beating the team that currently holds their previous name, Bellegrove A.

It was a hard fought match with Eltham edging the first two sets 3-2 and they went on to win the first frame of the final set to go 7-4 up.

Ritchie Mitchell pulled one back with his third win of the night and his namesake, Keith cleared up after a dry break to bring Bellegrove to within one frame.

Dan Vowles held his nerve to see Eltham over the line with an 8-6 victory.

Captain Ron Brown won both of his frames and Dan Heinink performed a brilliant break and dish for Eltham.

Bellegrove Social Club fared better than their sister team by beating Lord Herbert 8-5, with Martin Hession winning both his frames for the victors.

In the all Premier Division affair, O'Connors beat Foots Cray Social Club Rugrats by 8 frames to 3.
