After last week’s reversal, Westcombe Park bounced back to winning ways with a bonus point 33-20 triumph result away at Amersham & Chiltern.

But it was not without a post-Haloween scare for the visitors from Orpington, as the home side staged a second half comeback to be within one score going into the final minutes.

Amersham scored an early try through Dom Jones and a penalty from Dan Woods, but in reply Combe had set the scoreboard racing with tries from Dylan Flashman, Trent Nattrass, and Joe Simpson.

This tally was added to by two Simpson penalties and a Ben Hough conversion to produce a 23-8 point lead well into the second half.

The hosts then hit back with short range tries from Rhys Keith and Garret Doman-Cann.

Woods added a conversion to leave only a four-point difference with 10 minutes still on the clock.

But with seconds to go, Combe’s Tom Gray ended that revival with an interception on halfway, a move which ended with a try by the posts.

Simpson added the extras to seal the win, meaning Combe stay at the top of the table by one point.
