Fielding a full twelve teams in the EPA Regional finals held at Hayling Island last weekend, Kent came out top in the Championship competition and took third place overall in the Challenge section.

Strong opposition from all regions across the country, saw Kent ahead only on points difference in the championship after day one and just three points behind in the challenge at this stage, with five more games to play on the Sunday, all was in the balance.

The senior squad edged ahead to keep hold of the cup that they had won the previous year, while also fielding the best team in the competition.

In the second tier challenge, while Kent kept in touch they just couldn’t get the results to turn their position round, but they also finished with the most consistent team in their section of play.

After a full weekend programme Kent came away with most of the year’s EPA trophies.

Presentations were made to England double champions Dean Ashby and Jack Blows, Over 50s doubles champions Bob Gaywood and John-Louis Guiot, Nations Vetereans champions Lee and Angie Jamieson, Best playing record for the weekend Championship were Lee, Angie, Ashley Jamieson and Chris Watkins,  Challenge was Bob Gaywood, Martin Eggleton, John-Louis Guiot, England Club Champions were Meadow from Gillingham, and finally England number ine team were Kevin Spillet, Scott Ashby, Rowland Jones and Jack Blows, ALL from Kent
