Sidcup defeated Charlton Park 27-5 on Saturday.

Despite Charlton Park acquitting themselves well for long periods, Sidcup’s speed of thought and action proved decisive as the home side ran in four tries to consign their opponets to a second defeat of the season.

Sidcup opened the scoring when they kicked a penalty.

That advantage was extended midway through the half with a converted try following a rolling maul close to the Charlton goal line.

From the restart a rare error from Sidcup saw Charlton being awarded a kickable penalty from the ensuing scrum, but unfortunately this scoring opportunity was wasted..

Half-time substitutions by Sidcup proved to be the difference between the two sides as from the restart they increased the tempo of the game.

Good play in the loose saw Sidcup increase their lead with a second converted try after a slick handling move.

Charlton gained some momentum as Rob Saunderson drove over the line to touch down for a try.

With their confidence boosted, Charlton came more into the game and began to play to their potential but errors compounded their woes and Sidcup ran in two further tries.

This Saturday sees Charlton host Wimbledon at Broadwalk (3pm).
