Penge boxer Bradley Skeete is aiming to make it a hat-trick of knockout wins when he faces Brazilian Leandro Mendes Pinto on Saturday at the York Hall.

The undefeated welterweight, who trains at Ibox gym in Bromley, defends his WBA intercontinental title for the second time against Pinto, and is riding on two back-to-back stoppages.

In April he stopped Italian Tobia Giuseppe Loriga in seven rounds and then in July halted Steven Pearce in three rounds to bring his record to six stoppages in 17 fights.

Skeete, 26, has put his new found power down to a new strength and conditioning regime involving plenty of explosive plyometric exercises and says Pinto could be his next victim.

He said: “Since starting work with my strength and conditioning coach the results are showing for themselves with stoppage wins.

“Whereas before I wouldn’t do any work with weights, we’re now starting the camp with weights for the first couple of weeks, then moving onto explosive exercises and then finishing off the last week with sharp explosive sprints and battle ropes.

“I’ve got the technical boxing skills and that will continue improving with my trainer Alan Smith, but the biggest factor that we’re working on is improving my strength and power and that all coming together now.”

Skeete added: “The Loriga fight was probably my best performance to date and the Pearce win last time out has been the most explosive so far.

“Now I have to maintain that standard against Pinto and take him out.

“He’s a strong fighter, we’ve done our homework on him and I’m looking to do a real job on him.

“If I can take him out inside six rounds that will be a good result for me.”
