Anthony Westwood (pictured) is certainly the current man of the moment at Gravesend Cycling Club. 

He has just lowered his own 10-mile record to 20.13 at a race in Hertfordshire and then went to Suffolk to lower the Club’s 20-year-old 25-mile record by 2m30s to 52.18, both personal best times for him.

At this same race in Suffolk Michael Coulter lowered his personal best time for 25 miles by a minute to 57.17 and he also lowered his 50-mile best time by three minutes to 2hr08m47s. 

He also recorded 1hr04m51s on the hilly 25 between Leeds and Ashford on the A20.

Coulter and Westwood rode in 10-mile events on Romney Marsh recording times of 23.52 and 23.54 for Coulter and 21.41 and 31.38 for Westwood.

There have been three evening 10-mile series races at Grain. 

Coulter recorded 25.04 in the first, Steve Harrington 25.20, Kevin Gleadow 25.35, Adie Crothall 25.55, Dave Barclay 26.17, Andrew Webster 27.44, Karl Firmin 30.05 and Mike Jones 30.06.  

Race two: Westwood 21.55, Steve Gibson 22.26, Gleadow 25.27, Barclay 25.50, Webster 27.03, Keith Ward 27.27, Mark Simms 29.43 and Jones 30.00. 

Race three: Coulter 24.46, James Smith 25.14, Barclay 25.51, Webster 26.20 (pb), David Evans 26.24(pb), Robert Miller27.11, Ward 27.33 and Jones 28.55(pb).

Gibson has competed in road racing at Cyclopark in his new third cat grade and came ninth in the first race and then fourth in the second.

Dave French led a six hour, 80-mile Sunday ride to the Ashdown Forest, which include more than 2,300m of climbing, taking in all the serious climbs en route. 

There are regular Sunday club rides from the War Memorial at Cobham, 9am, which are gauged on the riders present, most being two and three hours in length.
