CRAYFORD boxer Lewis Pettitt already has one eye on an April title fight after his latest victory at the weekend.

The super bantamweight overcame Elemir Rafael on the judges’ scorecard at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday.

And Pettitt is now hoping for a spring fight to contest for one of boxing’s more illustrious accolades.

“I’m going to sit down with the rest of the team this week,” said Pettitt.

“After this I want a big title fight.

“Since I won the southern area I’ve been wanting to push on.

“I want to try and fight for an international or commonwealth title in my next fight, or the one after.”

The weekend fight against Rafael was Pettitt’s third in as many weeks and the 23-year-old admitted he was always confident of winning comfortably.

He said: “It felt good, it was a good six rounds.

“I thought I could have had him out a few times.

“The referee helped him out because he was holding on and falling all over the place.

“I thought he could have waved it off a few times, but I am happy with my performance.

“It was more of just a ticking over fight.

“I knew he would only be as hard as I made it and he was a little bit awkward and tricky.”
