A DARTFORD Grammar School student surpassed all expectations to win the Gillingham open last Friday.
Isha Chhatwal, 14, was competing against more than 45 rivals from golf clubs across Kent and began well, with her first shot landing six yards from the hole (138-yard par three), an effort which would later win her ‘the nearest to the pin prize’.
The second hole for the Mid-Kent GC member was a poor nine on the par five, but she regrouped and played a superb back nine to end the round with a net score of 62.
Chhatwal, who has only been playing competitive golf for three years, finished as overall winner and was rewarded with prizes worth more than £150.
