AN Orpington lacrosse player is set to represent England at the world championships in Canada this month.
Sophie Brett, 22, will compete in the top-seeded group against the USA, Canada,
Australia and Wales at the tournament, which begins on July 11.
America are first up for England and Brett, who is a member of the Bromley-based Croydon Foxes Lacrosse Club, will be aiming to make sure England battle through to the final on July 23.
The former Darrick Wood pupil has been with the foxes since the age of 12 and was first selected for England at just 14 when she competed for the U19 B team in an international against Scotland.
Since then, she has been an age group regular, captaining the England U21s and becoming the nation’s top scorer in both the 2008 and 2012 European championships.
England won European gold in 2012 and Brett is now hoping to bring back a medal in this her first world championships.
