Anna Barnett was first in the discus with 23.98m, but Isabella Hilditch had to settle for second place in the 75m hurdles despite timing a fine 11.8s.

In the 13s the highlight was the performance of Eloise Locke., who set a club record of 28.32m to win the javelin, as well as winning the shot.

Further Harriers victoris came from Caelan Raju (75m hurdles), Angus Harrington (javelin), Henri James Cowie (shot), and Karina Harris (long jump).

Despite these good performances, the club finished fourth on the day, which is where they are placed in the division with one match remaining.

Nigel Stickings was a proud father watching his son Lewis compete at Reading but the previous night he held centre stage at the latest Kent masters league match at Gillingham.

He smashed the club over 40s 200m record with a time of 23.3s, breaking the previous best set by Bob Minting in 1990 by half a second.

Nigel also recorded a 52 second split on the anchor leg of 4x400m, just missing out on catching his rival from Dartford by one tenth of a second.

Steve Timmins won the over 35s shot contest, as did Mike Van Den Dobbelsteen the javelin.

The club dominated with the spear, as Steve Langdon won the over 50s and Richard Coe the over 60s events.

Other victories in the over 50s came from Mark Watling in the 1,500m and Clem Leon in the high jump.

These performances helped the club to win by 12 points on the night and this means they head the league table after four matches by two points.

The women's team finished second on the night and are just one league place off the runner-up spot in the table.

Fresh from breaking the club 800m record last weekend, Maureen Miller moved down in distance to win the 200m.

This proved to be the club’s only individual win on the night but spirited performances from the rest of the team, some competing out of their age groups, ensured the second spot.

On the roads Len Crowder finished ninth in the Beckenham summer 10km in 37m46s.

David Beadle was 30th (40m48s), Andrea Pickup 31st (40m50s) and Justine Eastbury 88th (45m00s).
