GREENWICH Royals Gymnastics Club has capped a memorable first year by winning an 10 medals at this month’s regional grading championships. 
This was the first time the Kidbrooke-based club had entered this regional championships and Greenwich Royals’ coaches are proud of all the girls and the results achieved. 
The long weekend of competition began with Akielah Ashman-Howe winning the elite compulsory five competition for seven-year-olds in her debut competition.
In the national grade seven competition, Catherine Nuqui won gold convincingly, Melanie Morrice finished fifth and Isabella Nunn 10th.
At grade six, Chloe West won a bronze and silver medal, while at grade five Courtney Southern collected a pair of silvers.
Next up for Nuqui, Morrice, West and Southern is a trip to Birmingham next month to represent London at the national finals.
On the second day of competition Louise D’Arcy finished fourth in the grade 11 championships. 
At Grade 14, Skye Richards-LePage placed fifth, Eva Dos Reis Alves 10th, Hannah Hague 22nd, Delphy Redican 28th and Phoebe Hambling 31st. 
The big shock for the club came at grade 14 (nine years and older), where Greenwich Royals took a clean sweep of medals.
Harriet Knight became the regional champion and took gold, closely followed by team-mates Celia Meredith (silver), Lottie Osborne (bronze) and Issy Gough in fourth.
Daisy McCarthy came eighth, Daisy Lancaster 10th, Liberty Slater 16th, Freya Williams 17th and Amelia Down 20th. 
Bobbie Blakemore finished 10th and Summer Hayes-Scott 13th in grade 12,. 
In the 11 years and over category, Georgia Scott took the fifth-placed ribbon, Sophie Greaves seventh, Temi Abodunrin 13th and Megan Lawley 14th.
Niah Isles-Broughton won silver in the grade nine championships to caop an incredible weekend.
The success comes on the back of Francesca Engelhardt’s triumph at the end of 2012 in the national junior challenge cup championships.
She took the overall gold medal, along with a silver on bars, floor and vault to become the top gymnast in the country at this level.
