Ebbsfleet manager Daryl McMahon is confident there’s still improvement to come from his side who currently sit top of the Conference South.

The Fleet have enjoyed a sensational start to the season, winning 10 of their 11 games and only conceding six goals.

Last night’s 2-1 victory over relegation battlers Weston-super-Mare, inspired by goals from Danny Kedwell and Tom Bonner, extended their lead at the top of the table by nine points.

But Stonebridge Road boss McMahon is adamant his young and exciting squad will improve even more as the campaign progresses.

“I absolutely think this team will still improve,” the 31-year-old said.

“It’s a very talented, young squad and I feel there’s much more to come from them.

“The consistency throughout the team has helped but we’ve got a lot of good players who haven’t even played yet.

“We have an exciting squad who are working really hard at the moment and coming together well.”

Entry was free last night as Stonebridge Road attracted more than 2,000 spectators for the game, and McMahon commended the Fleet faithful for the atmosphere created.

“It was a brilliant atmosphere and I’m glad we were able to get a win for all the fans who turned up,” he added.

“The ground was really noisy and it was great for the players to play in front of such a packed crowd.

“The most important thing was getting the three points and thankfully we managed that.”

McMahon, a former Leyton Orient and Stevenage midfielder, also insisted the squad is not getting ahead of themselves despite their extraordinary start to the campaign.

He said: “We’ve had a great start but it’s important we don’t let this slip.

“Obviously we couldn’t have expected the start we’ve had.

“It’s been fantastic but it’s far too early in the season to be thinking about where we’ll end up in April.

“If we’re still nine points clear at the business end of the season then sure, but at the moment we’ve just got to take each game as it comes.

“We’re trying not to look too far ahead.”
