Cray extended their winning run to three games with another impressive victory over local rivals Phoenix Sports at Hayes Lane on Wednesday night.

Two goals from in-form striker Michael Power in the first half hour put Cray in control at the break.  The second half was a more even affair but there were two goals in injury time with Kyron Lightfoot scoring his first goal for Cray to make it 3-0 before Ashley Probets scored a consolation goal for Phoenix in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Cray got off to a fast start and took the lead in the 11th minute.   Karl Dent sent over a deep cross from a short corner that was headed towards goal by Jay Leader and turned over the line by Power.

Cray continued to press from there, and twice were denied by Phoenix keeper Steve Phillips,  Aaron Rhule set up Power who was denied by Phillips was also on hand to deny Lea Dawson soon after.  Phoenix’s first chance came half way through the half when Ashley Proberts’ free kick was headed just over by Richard Seixas.

Cray made it 2-0 on 27 minutes as Power controlled a long ball from Nick Blue and crashed it home past Phillips from 25yards.  There were other chances for Cray who led 2-0 at half time.

The second half was marred by a ligament injury to Phoenix Sports Tony Robinson who received lengthy treatment.  There were opportunities in the second half for Cray through Leader with a header over and Power came close to his second hat-trick in successive home games with a shot against the bar.  Phillips also saved well from Kyron Lightfoot.

The game burst into late life with two goals in injury time.  Firstly, Cray made it 3-0 when Freddie Parker surged into the box before unselfishly squaring the ball to Lightfoot who rolled the ball into the net.
