Neil Smith insists he is perfectly happy with his Bromley squad, although he will not hesitate to sign a player if he believes it will add quality to the team.

Deals for Joe Howe, David Martin and George Porter have bolstered Smith’s squad ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

After a respectable mid-table finish in the National League last season, it was always going to be a case of tweaking the side rather making extensive changes.

But with Bromley’s pre-season schedule about to get underway, Smith insists he is still exploring options in the market.

He said: “We are still looking at our options. It was always going to be about adding to the squad and adding more quality to the camp after last season.

“I’m happy with everything right now. But if there’s a player who I think will add to the squad then I won’t turn it down.”

Smith also revealed that several free agents had requested to take part in training with Bromley in the hope of landing deals with the club.

Bromley have taken up that option with a couple of players – including an ex-Crystal Palace youngster – but Smith has been forced to turn some away.

“We have had a lot of offers from players wanting to come and train with us,” the boss said.

“That’s all well and good but in the end I’ve had to say no to some because there’s a limit of how many players you can have training with you.

“With too many players involved it just becomes impractical.

“We’ve got a triallist who was recently at Crystal Palace and he’s doing well so we’ve still got a few options.”

Bromley start their pre-season schedule with a trip to Dulwich Hamlet tomorrow (July 9), before hosting Charlton on Tuesday (July 12) and League One play-off finalists Millwall next Saturday (July 16).
