Bromley cruised to a 4-0 victory in this rearranged Kent Reliance Kent Senior Cup 2nd Round tie on Tuesday evening.

The tie had been switched to Hayes Lane due to floodlight problems at Whitstable’s Belmont Road ground after the abandonment of the original game at Whitstable last week.

An Alex Wall hat trick, with another from Bradley Goldberg, did the damage against their Ryman League Division One South opponents.

Fielding a strong side, Bromley showed their intentions from the start, and Wall put the Hayes Lane side ahead after just nine minutes when his 25 yard shot left goalkeeper, Dan Eason, stranded.

His second was a blockbuster free kick, again from 25 yards, whose flight of the ball deceived Eason and flew into the roof of the net.

Charlie Smith forced a save out of Bromley’s goalkeeper, Chris Kettings, on the half hour mark, but two minutes later Eason reacted well to Goldberg’s effort, pushing his shot around the post.

As the half closed Eason palmed away Reece Prestedge’s 35 yard drive, and Kettings was not troubled by Sam Conlon’s strike at the other end.

Bromley went further ahead on 55 minutes when Wall completed his hat trick. Smith’s shot was saved by Kettings at the foot of the post, and from his clearance Paul Rodgers took the ball to the byeline, before laying back to Wall in front of goal. Wall needed no second touch as he hammered home from eight yards, giving Eason no chance.

Rodgers fluffed a good chance to increase the lead, and Prestedge’s dipping shot was just the wrong side of the crossbar; but to their credit, Whitstable never gave up.

Michael Hurcomb’s deflected shot arrived at Conlon’s feel, but the winger found the side netting, and Sam Bewick fired just wide moments later.

Bromley completed the scoreline on 79 minutes when Goldberg chased and won the ball from a defender near the byeline, before going around another defender to chip the ball over Eason as he advanced.

Bromley now entertain Charlton Athletic in the 3rd Round on a date to be arranged.
