Fleet 2 v 0 Grays Athletic
Nationwide Conference
GHRAVESEND and Northfleet beat promotion hopefuls Grays Athletic thanks to a goal apiece from Charlie MacDonald and Mark De Bolla.
The win lifts Fleet to sixth in the table and continues a run of five matches unbeaten.
However, the visitors made the brighter start with top scorer Aaron McLean looking lively while Dennis Oli fired a 15th minute shot straight at Lance Cronin.
Six minutes later the home side hit the front as John Keeling played the ball in from the right and MacDonald was in the right place to record his seventh goal of the season.
Grays struggled to get back into the game and failed to carve out any clear chances before the half-time whistle.
At the interval Frank Gray brought on Lee Boylan to shake his side into action but the closest they came to an equaliser was just past the hour mark when McLean fired over.
Fleet made the game safe as De Bolla fired home from the edge of the area to take his season's tally to five.
Boylan came close to halving the deficit but he knew his luck was out late on when his shot from 12 yards fizzed past an upright.
