DARTS boss Tony Burman has revealed how he read the riot act after the narrow victory over Kingstonian.

After a lacklustre first half against Whyteleafe on Bank Holiday Monday, one could be forgiven for thinking Burman would hit the roof in the dressing room.

However, he said: "There wasn't too much to say because I had aired all my grievances after the Kingstonian game on Saturday and although we managed three points I felt we were very fortunate, especially after the second half performance.

"When you play away from home you must expect to come under a certain amount of pressure from your opponents and I felt this was the case against Leafe.

"We managed to get an early goal which obviously helped but Leafe are a strong physical side and put us under a lot of pressure especially in the first half.

"At half time we felt if we could win our individual battles the quality of the team would come through and I think this is exactly what happened."

He added: "I felt we thoroughly deserved our three points. The reaction I got from the players from start to finish was excellent and after four games in our new league I think it's fair to say its been a very good start to the season."

A thigh injury prevented John Farley from playing and he may be doubtful for this Saturday's FA Cup tie with Tunbridge Wells.

Burman said: "John's place yesterday was taken by Danny White.

"HE has been with us for a year now and I have had very good reports from Grant Spelling regarding how well he has played.

"In pre season I had a closer look at Danny and we decided we would put him into the first team without any hesitation if the chance came along.

"It came yesterday and Danny took it with flying colours."
