BROMLEY'S run of poor form continued at Hayes Lane on Saturday when lowly Boreham Wood gained a late equaliser to deny the Lillies their first victory in seven games.

The result means that they have now taken only two points from a possible 21.

In another dire performance between two very poor sides, it was the visitors who had the better of the opening exchanges with Jerome Maledon firing wide from a good position after just five minutes.

Dave Bryant beat the offside trap one minute later to find himself one-on-one with the keeper, only to drag his shot wide.

Bromley’s on-loan keeper Tom Lovelock then denied Nicky Nicolau with a low save after central defender Jerry Nnamani gave possession away in a dangerous area, before Elliot Godfrey’s long range effort was well held by the custodian.

The home side offered very little in attack and at times lacked the basic skills. They were guilty of continually giving the ball away and were always second best in any 50-50 situation, so much so they failed to test the visitors in the first half.

Bromley slightly improved after the break and forced a number of corners before a stonewall penalty decision was turned down by the referee in the 65th minute. A pass out of defence over the top set Warren McBean free on goal but as he entered the area, the striker was bundled over by Luke Wilkinson.

The breakthrough came three minutes later when Liam Harwood’s free-kick was brilliantly headed home from 12 yards by Tutu Henriques.

Another penalty appeal was turned down three minutes later as Charlie Ide was tripped in the area by Wilkinson, but again there was nothing given from the officials.

In a purple 20 minutes, Bromley should have increased their lead. Harwood’s defensive headed clearance found McBean in space.

He raced away before squaring to Harry Harding, who completely miskicked in front of an open goal.

Three minutes later, former Bromley loan keeper Wes Foderingham twice denied McBean.

Firstly he parried the striker’s header at the foot of the post before the ball was cleared straight back to McBean, whose first-time shot from 10 yards was pushed clear by the keeper.

But those misses proved fatal as the visitors fought back to level the scores with nine minutes remaining. A long pass over the top was only partially cleared and with Bromley defenders appealing for offside, Bryant nipped in to fire past Lovelock from close range.

McBean broke clear again late on but Mike Cestor fouled him just outside of the area. Substitute Wes Daly stepped up to send a low free-kick through a crowd of players, which Foderingham did well to save low down.
