BROMLEY drew another blank at Westleigh Park on Saturday afternoon when Havant & Waterlooville’s two second half goals undid the Lillywhites.

Hayden Bird's side were looking for their first victory since January 29.

But on this showing it will be a long time coming, as Bromley put in another dire performance.

The visitors enjoyed plenty of possession in the opening stages of the first half but neither side registered a shot on target. Wes Daly had the first attempt at a goal after four minutes but blasted wide following good work by Leon McKenzie and Harrison Dunk.

Daly burst down the right 11 minutes later before crossing to Warren McBean, who cleverly rolled a pass across the face of the goal, only for defender Jake Newton to clear.

Manny Williams just failed to connect with Steve Ramsey’s cross at the other end as the ball ran through to Bromley’s debutant keeper Tom Lovelock, before Williams headed high over the bar from Ian Selley’s 25th minute free-kick.

Another free-kick was poorly defended on 31 minutes when Liam Harwood sent a clearance straight to Leon Cashman, who promptly slammed a shot through the crowded area.

Sam Pearce just failed to apply the merest of touches, which would certainly have led to a goal had he done so.

As the half-time whistle loomed, there were reasonable chances at both ends which could have opened the scoring.

Firstly, Paul Hinshelwood volleyed wide of Lovelock’s goal and then Tony Finn’s quickly taken free-kick sent McBean away on the right but his effort was blocked by centre half Sam Pearce on the edge of the area.

Bromley got off to the worst possible start to the second period, which effectively ended any hope of getting anything from the game, when they conceded a penalty on 48 minutes. Jerry Nnamani clumsily fouled Wes Fogden as the pair tried to reach a cross from the right and Williams stepped up to send Bromley’s 17-year-old keeper the wrong way with his spot kick.

Bromley’s heads went down after this goal but the hosts failed to capitalise on their shortcomings.

Selley drove wide after Williams' run to the byline and square back had set him up and Lovelock did well to push Guiseppe Sole’s volley around the post before Fogden picked out Williams in space, who shot straight into the Bromley keeper’s arms.

In an isolated Bromley attack, Dunk was thwarted by a defender’s block after the full back had fastened onto a Finn deep cross before a late substitution by Havant had the desired effect.

With nine minutes remaining Havant put the game to bed with a second goal from substitute Mustava Tiryaki, who had only been on the field seven minutes. Williams spread a pass wide to Hinshelwood whose delicate chip back over the Bromley defence was met by an unmarked Tiryaki, who had the simplest of tasks to head home from close range past an exposed Lovelock.

McKenzie’s 25 yard effort was deflected to force Nathan Ashmore into a save at the foot of the post in stoppage time.

McBean was right through on goal but dwelled too long and was robbed by full back Newton. Lovelock moved smartly to deny Tiryaki with an impressive save at the substitutes feet to give the scoreline a resemblance of respectability.
