EBBSFLEET United suffered their heaviest away defeat of the season with a heavy loss to in-form Woking in a dismal display at Kingfield Stadium.

All three goals were scored within the first 35 minutes, as the visitors were over-run by a well-organised Woking attack which looked to capitalise on Fleet’s high defensive line.

Liam Daish made one change from the XI which started in the win against Chelmsford, bringing Tom Phipp into the centre of midfield to replace Conor Okus.

Woking manager Garry Hill fielded an attacking 4-3-3 formation, with ex-Fleet midfielder Mark Ricketts captaining the side.

The Cards signalled their intentions early on when Craig Dobson was played through and shot just over Preston Edward’s goal after cutting inside from the right.

However, the hosts were much more clinical with the next opportunity of the game.

After a long pass downfield found Elvis Hammond, the striker outpaced the Ebbsfleet defence before rolling a shot past Edwards and into the back of the net from 18 yards.

Callum Willock then had the chance to equalise but he didn’t connect properly with Clint Easton’s left-wing cross and the effort rolled wide of the post.

This let off gave Woking confidence and they soon doubled their lead.

Ebbsfleet’s defence failed to deal with a corner and it broke to Joe McNerny, who finished past Edwards from close range.

The third goal came within minutes when a quick Woking counter attack saw Hammond send Dobson racing through on goal from the halfway line and he made no mistake with the finish, firing past Edwards to give Woking a commanding 3-0 half-time lead.

Woking were a little more defensive in the second half but Ebbsfleet still could not break them down.

The closest the visitors came to a consolation goal was a long-range shot from substitute Jacob Erskine but the attempt bounced comfortably into the hands of keeper Andrew Little.

Woking had yet more chances to score, with Dobson’s skilful long distance volley flying inches over Edwards’ bar, while Hammond’s free header fell just past the post as Woking enjoyed a comfortable ride to victory.
