BROMLEY manager Mark Goldberg has quit the club after two-and-a-half years in his second spell in charge.

Goldberg rejoined the Lillywhites at the start of the 2008/09 season and leaves the Hayes Lane club fifth in Blue Square Bet South.

This season started with a club record seven consecutive league wins but since then Bromley have taken only 17 points from the last 16 games and suffered early exits from both FA competitions.

Goldberg said: “It is with regret that I have to announce that, in the best interests of the club, I left Bromley FC before the game against Basingstoke Town.

“This was due to an ongoing conflict in house on how and who should play first team football, which made my position as manager untenable as I wish to be responsible for my own decisions.

“My heart will always be with the club although I hope everyone concerned will respect that I will be looking to stay in football.”

Goldberg joined the club at the start of the 2006/7 season but left at Christmas the following year.

During this first spell he led his newly assembled squad to a Kent Senior Cup triumph and promotion to Blue Square South via the play-offs.

Under Goldberg the club twice reached the first round of the FA Cup for the first time in more than 50 years.

The current management team will remain the same for the rest of the season.
