Maidstone Unite 4 v 0 VCD Athletic
Kent League Cup Final
WITHOUT the services of five first teams players and with the boss serving a one-week touchline ban it was always going to be a tough game for the Vickers against the League Champions.
VCD were without Stuart Abbott, Kevin Winchcombe, Mark Horan, Steve Hogg and Martin Driscoll and Maidstone were too strong all over the pitch.
However, it was VCD who had the game's first chance when Ashley Probets released Mark Greatorex.
With only the Maidstone keeper Pat Mullins to beat, Greatorex shot straight at him and the chance was gone.
It was not long after when VCD stopper Grant Wallis was picking the ball out of his net after Mario Celaire headed the opener past him on 30 minutes.
The second goal soon followed with Speering firing home from 15 yards to give the Stones comfortable lead at half time.
In the second hald Stones' Lynden Rowland had a goal disallowed before Mo Takaloo made it 3-0 with a crisp volley from five yards.
Takaloo again showed why he is this season's leading Kent League hitman with another fine finish on 62 minutes.
