WELLING United returned to winning ways in the league thanks to super-sub Danny Kedwell.

The striker came off the bench in the 71st minute to score his 12th goal of the season and secure the Wings' first league victory since November 19.

The win was no more than Welling deserved after they carved Weston-super-Mare open on more than one occasion but failed to score.

Skipper Chris Moore missed the target from six yards while Che Stadhart pulled good saves from Ryan Northmore.

James Pinnock and Jamie Day also went close before Kedwell, who missed the 2-2 draw at Newport County with a groin injury, saved the day.

Toward the end Weston did have a penalty appeal turned down when Mark McKeever went over Barry Ashby's challenge.

Welling are now sixth in the Nationwide Conference South and they travel to Yeading this weekend.
