AEI Gravesend Ladies had a disastrous time on Sunday when they lost 7-1 at home to their counterparts from Woking.

An AEI spokeswoman said: "It's hard to admit but we need to hold our hands up as a team and say where were we in the first half?' "We had selection problems with team injuries and a few players unavailable, leading to players out of their preferred positions, but no one likes to lose by that many. We are better than that.

"The first half was a gift to a very well-organised and good passing team of Woking's standard, as we simply allowed them to play.

"We did not make enough challenges for the ball or create our own chances.

To be 6-0 down at half-time reflected that. Hopefully, the second half was us turning the corner.

"We came out with more focus and more determination, although the game was already lost.

"We showed some good team spirit, with Jade McDermott scoring a well- deserved goal taken on the volley."

Next Sunday, AEI are away in the league to Dover Ladies. Kick off at The Hoverspeed Stadium is at 2pm.
