EBBSFLEET United’s U14s were the only youth team in action at the weekend as the weather washed out all the other fixtures.
However, the boys must have wished their game had been called off too as they crashed to a heavy 6-1 defeat at a very strong VCD Athletic side.
Ebbsfleet were competitive initially but it was uphill all the way once VCD broke the deadlock and they went on to concede five further goals.
The Fleet’s solitary reply came from Jordan Payne, who reduced the arrears to 2-1 early in the first half.
