COLCHESTER manager Aidy Boothroyd admits his side could be on the end of a shock FA Cup exit at Bromley on Saturday unless his squad take the game seriously.

The Essex outfit caused one of the biggest upsets in the competition’s history when they beat Don Revie’s all-conquering Leeds United side 3-2 in 1971.

However, the roles will be reversed this Saturday when Colchester travel to Hayes Lane to take on Mark Goldberg’s Blue Square South side and Boothroyd has already started doing his homework.

He said: “Myself and John Ward went to have a look against Basingstoke and they were very hospitable people. They’ve got two good front players and a decent left winger and they ended up winning the game.

“They are eighth in the table, so it will be a tough game for us.

“Away from home if you don’t prepare properly, an upset will be on the cards, so we’ve got to make sure we do things right and get through to the next round.

“This will be the first time I’ve played a non-league side in the FA Cup, but it should be a good game and I’m looking forward to it.”

Saturday’s game kicks off at 1pm and is all ticket.

Tickets, which will not be on sale on the day of the game, can be purchased in advance until 6pm on Friday at the club’s Hayes Lane ground, costing £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.

To book your ticket now, call Bromley FC on 020 8 460 5291.

The early kick-off is due to firework display in Norman Park on Saturday evening, in which the gates open at 5pm.

A normal 3pm kick-off time would have clashed with traffic in Hayes Lane.

Should a replay be necessary, it will take place at Colchester on November 17 at 7.45pm.

Meanwhile, the Lillywhites discovered yesterday they will host Maidstone in a FA Trophy Kent derby on November 21.

Bromley have been drawn at home to Sittingbourne in the second round of the Kent Cup on a date to be arranged.
