ERITH & Belvedere fought out a close Kent League Cup first leg tie with Corinthian, twice having to come from behind to ensure this Saturday’s second leg is evenly balanced.

Sam Jeffrey put the home side in front after nine minutes, tapping home after his first shot was saved by Deres keeper Matt Bromby before Dave Waters powerfully headed home John-Paul Collier’s corner kick to equalise 10 minutes later.

Captain Adam Douglas restored Corinthian’s lead just before the break, flicking in from a Jeffrey free-kick.

An unmarked Michael Dodsworth grabbed a second equaliser for the Deres after 66 minutes, heading in at the far post following a great cross from Louis Collins.

Both sides had chances to win this first tie late on but will now start this weekend’s second leg at Park View Road all square and with everything still to play for.
