CRAY earned their second win of the season and moved up to 15th place in the Ryman Premier League table after their Bank Holiday Monday 1-0 win at Margate.

Tommy Tyne grabbed the winner in the 33th minute with the Wands looking the better of the two Kent sides contesting the local derby in front of 426 spectators.

It was a much improved Cray performance after their disappointing home defeat by Hastings United on Saturday.

Trailing by two goals at the interval, Cray were revitalised in the second half with a goal from substitute Leigh Bremner, but they blew a golden opportunity to salvage a point when Michael Power saw his penalty-kick saved by the Hastings 'keeper five minutes from time.

Cray's first ever win in the Ryman Premier League had come four days earlier with a 2-0 away win at Tooting & Mitcham United on Tuesday evening.

Cray's goals came from brothers Lewis and Jamie Wood in the first half.

Canvey Island are the visitors in Cray's next fixture on Saturday 5 September (3pm).
