Bromley striker Brandon Hanlan believes they were unlucky not to lift the FA Trophy after an agonising penalty shootout defeat to Brackley Town at Wembley.

Omar Bugiel put Bromley in front during the first-half before a 95th minute Roger Johnson own goal gave the Saints their equaliser.

Bromley eventually lost 5-4 on penalties, after leading for the majority of the game, with Andy Brown scoring the decisive penalty.

Hanlan said: “Personally, I would say the better team lost today. I feel like it’s bad luck, it’s just fine inches in games.

“It’s just something that happens in football.”

The Charlton Athletic loanee replaced Louis Dennis in the 68th minute and provided both pace and a target for Bromley to attack.

He had great chances to score the Ravens’ second in the game but could not beat Brackley goalkeeper Danny Lewis.

Although he couldn’t net the crucial second goal for Bromley, Hanlan praised the effort from the team on the day.

The 20-year-old added: “I feel like the boys have been fantastic throughout the whole journey up to Wembley.

“Even though we were playing at in a final at Wembley we still played our normal game.

“The boys put in the effort right until the last minute of the game.”

The Charlton youth product is unsure of his future but didn’t rule out coming back to Hayes Lane next season.

Hanlan said: “I want to be out playing football wherever I go.

“It could be on the table [to return to Bromley] but I’m not too sure as of yet.

“I’ve got the whole summer to think about where I’m going to be.”
