An Eltham American football team has been crowned division champions.
Despite a 26-33 loss to the Kent Exiles, the London Olympians managed to secure the title on points differential.
The Olympians rued several missed chances as the gap between them and the Exiles became too much to close in the end.
However, they now go into the BAFA National League playoffs as winners of the SFC East’s Division 1.
Head coach Neil Edwards said: “It’s a disappointing loss, and now how we wanted to enter the playoffs, but we are still the champions and can learn a lot from what happened.
“Our focus is now [on] correcting our mistakes and building on what is working well.”
The result of this week’s SFC Central division will determine the Olympians’ opponents at home on August 6 at Blackheath Rugby Club.
