Congratulations to the Cray Wanderers U10s who are celebrating becoming champions of the ESF Festival of Football 2017.  The competition took place in Bognor Regis over the Bank Holiday weekend and features teams from all over the UK and from Holland.  After getting through a very tough first round group they reached the semi final and won through to the final where they beat Little Thurrock to win the trophy.

The competition features team from all over the UK and some guests from Holland.  Over 160 teams take part over all age groups.

In the first round Cray were drawn in group 1 that included established sides and last seasons under 9's winners Vauxhall Motors. Only the winners of each group went through to the semi finals so a tough two days were on the horizon. The results of the Cray Wanderers games are listed below: In the end Cray defeated Bury Rangers 4-0, Splott Albion 1-0, Protech FC 2-1, Vauxhall Motors 2-1 and Netherton FC 1-0

Cray topped the group and qualified for the semi final where they beat Margate 1-0.  In the final against Little Thurrock, Cray triumphed 2-0 with goals by Kieran Fowler and an Angel Aboukoma (pen) to deservedly win the trophy. Robert Pires (Ex Arsenal/France) later presented the trophy at the evening awards event.

Well done to Steve Owen and Steve Redman who have coached the team terrifically and now the young Cray side have been invited to a champion of champion event at St Georges Park (England's training ground) at the start of July 2017. They will face all the under 10 winners across England, Scotland, Wales and France.
