Jamie Day's first league game back in charge at Welling United ended their run of over a year without a Saturday home league win.

FC Halifax Town were the last visitors to go home from a Saturday league match at Welling empty handed and that was 0n 26th September 2015.

George Oakley came in for Dan Walker for Welling's only change from the team that knocked Concord Rangers out of the FA Trophy one week earlier.

Harry Crawford had already had a shot blocked for Welling and Danny Waldren had shot wide when Bath were forced into making an early change. Sekani Simpson replaced captain Dan Ball as it looked as though a gamble to start him had not paid off.

One minute later, Welling went ahead. It was worked out to Matt Fish and his deep cross picked out Oakley. His ball found Adam Coombes on the edge of the box and the Welling leading scorer made no mistake with a shot that arrowed into the bottom corner.

Tyler Harvey then tried a cross that held up in the wind and Harry Girling watched it float over.

Crawford thought he had made it two minutes later when meeting Sam Hatton's corner with a powerful header but it struck a defender's shoulder and ricocheted over.

Coombes and Crawford combined well but the latter again saw his effort blocked.

Frankie Artus shot wide for Bath as they began to come into the game a little more.

Pierre Joseph-Dubois then had to be withdrawn and was replaced by Christian Nanetti.

His industry was almost rewarded when forcing Simpson to pass back to his goalkeeper but Coombes got their first and his first time shot from a tight angle was forced wide by Max O'Leary in the Bath goal.

Just before the break, Bath missed a gilt edged chance when Ryan Broom's deep cross was headed against the post at close range by Andy Watkins.

Just two minutes of the second half had passed when Bath levelled. Artus met a corner that floated just under the bar.

O'Leary saved from Crawford who appeared to be pulled back meaning he could not get the power that he wanted.

Hatton was the next to test O'Leary but again he was able to make a comfortable save.

His next shot, from Crawford's lay back had O'Leary grasping at fresh air but flew inches wide.

On 67 minutes Welling regained their lead. Nanetti's trickery ended in him being brought down by Artus. Coombes stepped up and sent O'Leary the wrong way.

Five minutes later Welling gave themselves some breathing space when Jordan Brown switched play to the other side where Matt Fish had room to break. He found Coombes in the area but O'Leary forced him away. He laid back for Crawford to slot home.

Chas Hemmings headed wide from a corner but that was the only moment that Welling were not in total control while seeing the game out.
