Cray remain unbeaten after five games in the Ryman South but had to settle for a point following an enthralling encounter with Ramsgate at Price’s Avenue.

Both sides lost in the cup on Saturday but threw caution to the wind to provide an excellent evening’s entertainment.

Cray perhaps edged the first half and took the lead on the half hour when Brandon Scott’s shot came off the foot of a post and Karl Dent was on hand to turn the ball home.

The game really caught fire in the second half with the home side levelling in the 51st minute when Alfie Paxman took advantage of some slack Cray defending to score.

Ramsgate were unlucky when Jake McKenzie’s shot came back off the crossbar before they took the lead in the 71st minute.  There was nothing Cray keeper Max Huxter could to stop Luke Girt’s terrific twenty five yard strike.

Cray levelled three minutes later when from a free kick Lea Dawson steered a header past keeper Luke Watkins.

There were opportunities at both ends to score after that with Ramsgate awarded a penalty in the 78th minute but Joe Taylor’s kick came back off the crossbar.  In the end the game finished 2-2 which was about right.
