Cray Wanderers made it through to the 1st Qualifying Round of the FA Cup after victory against Combined Counties Premier Division side Badshot Lea at the Shawfield Stadium.

Cray took the lead in the 35th minute with a fine individual goal from Brandon Scott who cut in from the right, into the area and took the ball round the keeper and calmly slotted the ball into the net.

With the game in the sixth minute of injury time, Cray scored again with a tremendous piece of vision from Grant Basey who fifteen yards into his own half hit an audacious looping shot which saw the ball float over the keeper who was caught flat footed slightly off the line and into the net.

In the last minute of stoppage time, Badshot were awarded rather a soft penalty but Kieran Maylen’s kick was saved down to the left superbly by Nick Blue, who then excelled again by blocking a follow up shot from Jacob McDonald..

Cray sealed the win with a penalty of their own in the 66th minute after Karl Dent was upended in the box and Basey confidently struck home the penalty.

In the 82nd minute Cray made it 4-0 when Scott put over a great cross which Taylor McDonagh had the simplest of tasks to score from close range.
