Welling United boss Mark Goldberg has outlined the positions he could still strengthen before the start of the new season.

A host of players have left Park View Road this summer following the Wings’ relegation to the National League South.

Goldberg has enjoyed a busy summer bringing in recruits – including goalkeeper Chris Lewington and ex-Bromley man Pierre Joseph-Dubois – but the manager is still exploring options in the market.

He said: “We’re still looking at players, perhaps central midfielders and a striker.

“We also have a winger on trial so we will see how that plays out. I would say we have three or four potential players from within the club at the moment and then we are looking at a couple more as well.

“Chris [Lewington] has come in and I think that was an important signing for us. He’s a good goalkeeper and hopefully he can have a good season.”

Welling’s league campaign kicks off on August 6 with a trip to Oxford City.

The Wings will take on Dartford in September and Ebbsfleet United in November, while facing Margate over the festive period.

Goldberg said of the fixture release: “Nothing stands out for me too much at this point in time.

“We would have liked to have had a more local game on Boxing Day from a commercial aspect.

“A lot of our games clash with Charlton as well which we requested not to happen. But that’s how’s it goes and we will get on with it.”
