Dartford coach Steve Mosely thought his side "thoroughly deserved" their 2-0 win over Maidenhead United at Princes Park on Saturday.

After a cagey start to the game between the two play-off hopefuls, Dartford took the lead on 33 minutes when Danny Harris fired past Cart Pentney.

It got worse for the visitors just a minute later then Dean Inman brought Andy Pugh down, giving the Darts a penalty which Elliot Bradbrook duly converted.

The second half saw Dartford sit back and defend their lead and despite withstanding some pressure from Maidenhead, it was a comfortable three points for the hosts.

Mosely said: "We are definitely happy to have the three points. It is nice to have the clean sheet, which was a little bit of a change for us and to get two goals against Maidenhead who are on a good run. I thought we thoroughly deserved it.

“We have had a few injuries and a few people have been missing but now we are starting to get the squad back together again and hopefully there will be a push and see where that takes us at the end of the season.

"I'll be honest in the first half we felt that we did not start that great but we came into the game and the first goal changed the game. That gave us the confidence and then to get the second straight afterwards gave us the platform to see out the game."

There was also praise for captain Elliot Bradbrook, who returned to the Dartford lineup following a three game suspension.

"Elliot has got great experience,” Mosely said. “He knows what it is all about. A lot of the experienced players here have known what it is like at this time of the season where points and winning games does make a difference.

"He has come into the side today and was excellent."

Mosely, standing in alongside Paul Sawyer while manager Tony Burman makes his recovery from a stay in hospital, felt his side thwarted Maidenhead's sources of attack.

He added: "We knew what to expect from them today. We were organised and we knew they would attack from the set pieces, the long throws.

"The corners were dangerous but we were really organised and I thought that we handled it well."

Saturday's win saw Dartford move into the play-off positions, but Mosely remained cautious about promotion talk: "We have been here before and we know what it is about. We just want to win as many games as possible and see where that takes us.

"Every time we have gone to fifth this season, we have dropped out of it, so it is about time to get a few results and stay up there."

Mosely also provided an update on Tony Burman, saying: "We have spoken to Tony quite a bit. He had some chest pains but he had some tests and everything has come back positive.

“Hopefully, we will see him back later on in the week.”

Dartford travel to Maidstone United on Saturday as their hunt for a playoff place continues.
