Bromley gained a hard fought point in Cumbria on Saturday, when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Barrow AFC.

The first half was fairly even with both sides having half chances, but Bromley were pegged back in the second period for long periods despite taking the lead.

The hosts created the first chance in the 4th minute when Andy Cook’s header was cleared off the line and Alan Julian reacted smartly by saving the follow up of Michael Donohue.

Bromley responded with Ali Fuseini being denied by the Barrow goalkeeper, and Adam Cunnington’s overhead kick, from Joe Anderson’s throw in, was narrowly over the bar.

A screamer of a shot from Nick Wilmer-Anderton was just over the bar, before some overzealous tackling brought two Barrow bookings in the space of three minutes.

Just before the interval Donohue jinked his way into the penalty area, only to find the top of the net with his shot.

Bromley were pegged back for long periods at the start of the second half, but the hosts failed to get any shots on target and it was rather against the run of play that Bromley opened the scoring in the 57th minute.

Rohdell Gordon laid the ball off to Moses Emmanuel who, with his back to goal played the ball wide for Cunnington to place into the net from 12 yards.

Ben Tomlinson and Jordan Williams went close for the hosts, whilst Cook’s fierce shot went wide after a 30 yard run; before Cook’s well placed header was just wide of the intended target.

A brief period of Bromley dominance saw Pierre Joseph-Dubois shoot straight at Joel Dixon in the Barrow goal, before Emmanuel forced a save out of the goalkeeper at the near post.

Lee Minshull’s effort was cleared off the line by Richard Sutton, and Louis Dennis combined with Emmanuel for the latter to narrowly volley over the bar.

The equaliser came from the penalty spot with nine minutes of the game remaining. Substitute, Jason Walker chased the ball across the area and as he turned, Jack Holland inadvertently pulled him down.

Although Julian saved Walker’s spot kick, the substitute was quick to follow up and stoop low to head in the rebound.

Bromley had a chance to win the game in the closing stages, but Dixon got down well at his near post to tip around Bradley Goldberg’s shot from Holland’s pull back from the byeline.
