Cray went down to defeat at home to Thurrock on Tuesday evening in a battle of two of the top four in the Isthmian League North.

The first half was an end to end affair which ended goalless.  For Cray, Jacob Erskine and Karl Dent both forced Thurrock keeper Rhys Madden to make good saves whilst at the other end Nick Blue excelled to deny Charlie Cole in a one on one situation.

The second half was equally livelier and Thurrock went ahead in the 58th minute from the penalty spot after Ade Osifuwa brought down Cole inside the area.  Harry Agumbar scored from the spot.

Thurrock hit the post shortly after and then in the 69th minute went two up when an Agumbar corner to the far post was missed by Blue and Cole turned the ball in from two yards.

Cray kept going and pulled a goal back three minutes from time when James Duckworth fired home to set up a grandstand finish.  Cray through everything at the visitors to try and snatch a draw and almost did two minutes into stoppage time but Leigh Bremner’s volley came back off the post.
