Bromley eased to a 2-0 victory over struggling neighbours, Welling United, at Hayes Lane on Tuesday evening to make it three successive wins for Bromley, and two league doubles on the spin – having won at Park View Road earlier in the season.

A goal in each half saw Welling’s winless run in the league extend to 18 games.

The relegation threatened visitors offered little resistance in the opening stages, and Bromley took an early lead in the 9th minute when Adam Cunnington laid the ball into Rohdell Gordon’s path, who side stepped his marker to fire high into the net from twelve yards.

Joe Anderson’s free kick was laid back to Ali Fuseini, whose goalbound shot was deflected wide shortly afterwards.

However, Welling gradually regrouped and had the better of the exchanges for the remainder of the first half.

Toni Adeloye’s long shot was tipped behind by Bromley’s goalkeeper, Alan Julian, before the custodian was quickly out to smother at the strikers feet; while Luke Wanadio fired a tame free kick straight to Julian as half time approached.

Bromley had two chances in the opening minutes of the second half to increase their lead, but were denied by the goalkeeper and crossbar.

On 49 minutes Lee Minshull’s volley was brilliantly pushed away by a diving Marek Rodak, and one minute later Moses Emmanuel was put in by Cunnington only to see his shot rebound off the crossbar.

Kadell Daniel sent a free kick over the bar, and Julian saved well from the same player, before Bromley doubled the scoreline from the penalty spot in the 56th minute.

Ian Gayle rather clumsily bundled over Emmanuel, and Bromley’s leading scorer got up to slam the spot kick past Rodak for his nineteenth League goal of the season.

Daniel had a chance to reduce the arrears on 69 minutes, but his free kick from the edge of the penalty area just missed the angle of the post and crossbar.

Bromley might have increased their lead with twelve minutes remaining when a poor clearance from Rodak went straight to Fuseini, but he screwed his 30-yard effort wide of an empty goal, much to the relieve of the goalkeeper.

The last chance of the evening went to Welling’s Michael Bakare, who blazed hopelessly high and wide with only Julian to beat, after being set free on goal by Sahr Kabba in the final minute.
