Another home defeat increased Welling United's relegation fears as Aldershot Town claimed the three points.

Once again, Welling probably had the better of the first half but were unable to build upon it and fell away in the second period.

Whilst the winning goal was controversial, the visitors created the better openings and were deserving of their victory.

Dean Frost made enforced changes again. Injuries to Michael Chambers and Ian Gayle meant that Kevin Lokko earned a starting place with Ibrahim Kargbo coming in for a Welling debut. Sam Corne's knee problems kept him out and Luke Wanadio returned to the starting line up.

Wanadio was very influential in Welling's strong opening spell. First he had a shot saved before putting in a great cross that Ade Yusuff scuffed when well placed.

Charlie Walker almost made the most of a cheeky free kick but shot wide of the near post.

Former Wing Ross Lafayette then got free but Marek Rodak did well to claw his attempted lob away for a corner.

After Welling had wasted a couple of corners with poor deliveries, Nathan Ralph showed how it should be done with a free kick that was headed wide by Aldershot's Sean McGinty when he should have done better.

Yusuff chased a long ball but pulled up holding the back of his leg and had to be replaced by Sahr Kabba.

Kargbo made a foray forward from his position in front of the back four but his shot was saved easily by Phil Smith.

Noah Chesmain then fired over and Reece Harris shot wide as Welling continued to press.

Ralph was thwarted by a Rodak double save then Lafayette caused problems before setting up Walker but the Shots' leading scorer fired tamely at the Welling custodian.

Just before the break, Harris found Tomi Adeloye with a corner but it was just behind him and he was unable to muster the power in his header to trouble Smith.

Immediately after the interval, Wanadio caused mayhem in the Aldershot penalty area. Kabba had a shot blocked by a desperate block and when it came back to Wanadio, his shot was deflected wide of the post.

Lafayette then showed a great touch in making space to pull back for Walker but Rodak saved.

Walker was withdrawn and replaced by Alfie Pavey to give Welling different problems.

Lokko prodded an effort that was saved by Smith before Jake Gallagher's effort was kept out by Rodak.

Gallagher was then sent clear by Lafayette but Rodak made himself big and pulled off a great save.

Jim Stevenson then headed back but Lafayette's effort was off target.

Barney Williams had a shot saved then Pavey headed wide for the visitors before Lafayette broke the deadlock..

Having got clear, he appeared to be going away from goal before being adjudged to have been brought down by Rodak. He picked himself up and smashed the spot kick home.

Wanadio then crossed low for Kabba but the Welling striker slipped as he shot and hooked his effort wide.

James Ferry shot wide then Lokko headed over from substitute Kadell Daniel's corner.

Deep into injury time, Pavey had a shot well saved by Rodak.
