Bromley suffered yet another defeat in North Wales on Saturday when they went down without a lot of fight to Wrexham by two first-half goals to nil.

The Welshmen gained ample revenge for their opening day defeat at Hayes Lane in August and were never troubled by an inept Bromley side.

Right from the off the Ravens were on the back foot and Sean Newton’s free-kick was only just wide of the post in the 3rd minute and one minute later Wrexham did have the ball in the back of the net but the assistant referee’s flag came to the rescue.

Newton’s 35-yard drive came back off the upright for Mark Beck to fire home but was rightly adjudged offside by the assistant.

Bromley’s first effort on goal fell to Reise Allassani, who took the ball 40 yards before stumbling under a challenge and the ball ran loose to Alex Wall who sent a low shot just wide.

Lee Fowler then twice went close, the first 40 yard screamer was held at the second attempt by Alan Julian and the second curled just wide of the upright.

The hosts opened the scoring on 31 minutes when sloppy defending saw Mark Carrington’s cross into the area where the unmarked Fowler picked his spot with a header.

Six minutes later the home side doubled their lead from the penalty spot after Paul Rodgers was adjudged rather harshly to have tripped Connor Jennings.

The captain made no mistake by blasting his shot straight down the middle giving Julian no chance.

Wrexham continued to have the upper hand and Beck wasted a good chance to increase the score-line moments before the break.

The second half was much of the same and Julian denied both Fowler and Jennings in the early stages of the second period.

Beck then turned in the area only to shoot wide before Bromley briefly had two chances on goal.

The first came in the 68th minute when substitute Adam Coombes found himself one on one with the Wrexham goalkeeper who got a strong hand on Coombe’s shot to turn the ball around the post.

While five minutes later another substitute Bradley Goldberg took two defenders on and curled a shot towards the bottom corner but the on-loan Wrexham keeper at full length palmed the ball away.

In the closing stages Kayden Jackson and Wes York had chances to add to the home score-line but the game ended 2-0 to Wrexham.

A very flattering scoreline for Bromley who never looked like penetrating the home defence.
