Bromley continued their poor run of results on Saturday when they were beaten by two goals to nil on their first ever visit to Macclesfield Town.

They have now lost five of their last seven games, and this result saw their hosts leap-frog them in the League table where they now stand in 11th position.

The Kentish Club started the brighter, and should have been ahead at the interval had they showed a little more composure in front of goal.

After just 7 minutes, Reece Prestedge over hit his pass that would have put Moses Emmanuel in on goal; and two minutes later, a good move broke down when Lee Minshull lashed his attempt wildly over the bar, after Anthony Cook had set him up.

Whilst on ten minutes Macclesfield’s goalkeeper, Shwan Jalal, did extremely well to deny Emmanuel, after the striker had fastened onto Louis Dennis’s ball over the top.

The hosts gradually grew into the game, and Paul Lewis’s free kick dropped just the wrong side of the crossbar; before Danny Whitehead’s 25-yard screamer went the same way, as Bromley somewhat lost their way towards the half time whistle.

The miss of the match came on 38 minutes when Lewis’s chip from the byeline picked out the unmarked Kristian Dennis.

It seemed certain that the striker would score from five yards out but Chris Kettings reacted brilliantly to hold on to his header.

Bromley paid the price for their missed chances, as Macclesfield’s breakthrough came just four minutes into the second half when a deep cross from the left was touched down by Chris Holroyd for Lewis to slide home from close range.

Macclesfield were gifted a harshly contested penalty after 55 minutes when Ben Chorley was adjudged by the linesman to have handled after having the ball driven at him from point blank range. But Kettings spread himself well to block Kristian Dennis’s spot kick.

This was the boost Bromley needed as they responded to the penalty, and Jalal denied Minshull with a smart save from the Bromley midfielder’s downward header.

Ali Fuseini shot wide from a good position, before Emmanuel was extremely unlucky when his half volley thundered back off the upright with the goalkeeper beaten.

Emmanuel went close again a few minutes later, and Louis Dennis fired over before the home side made sure of the points with ten minutes remaining.

A throw in was poorly defended and Holroyd, again, provided the pass that enabled Kristian Dennis to sweep home from twelve yards through a crowded penalty area.

For Macclesfield, their rise up the League table continued but for Bromley it must be back to the drawing board, as they continue to slip down the league.
