Cray produced a very professional performance to move seven points in front at the top of the Isthmian League North with victory at a wet and soggy Witham Town.

The match was played in constant rain with a strong wind. The Wands took the lead in the 5th minute when Grant Basey out on the left put over a wicked cross which was diverted into his own net by Witham skipper, Simon Glover.

The Wands extended their lead in the 23rd minute when Leigh Bremner worked his way down the right and played in a cross which nicked off the head of a defender to the back post into the path of Hunt who stole in to head home from close range.

Witham pressed before half time and pulled a goal back in the 41st minute.  Ryan Charles whipped a right wing free kick across and was met by Lee Townrow who looped a header into the back of the net.

The rain continued into the second half but Cray defended throughout with great determination and restricted Witham to few chances.

Cray could have added to their lead but Witham keeper Lewis Down made good saves from Uche Ibemere, Karl Dent, Basey and Hunt but held out for another good three points on their travels.
