Chelsea have sent scouts to track Welling United midfielder Sam Corne as the Premier League champions weigh up a January transfer move, according to reports.

The Wings’ starlet has attracted the attention of several league clubs after a promising run of performances for the National League side.

The Daily Mail report that Chelsea, along with League One outfit Millwall, are interested in Corne, who signed a two-year deal at Welling in May.

The 19-year-old was selected in the England C squad in September and was named as Welling’s player of the month for October.

Corne is expected to leave Welling in January but his destination is unknown with several clubs in competition to secure his signature.
